Hello chickies!!
I'm back from my vacation in Costa Rica. I will say more about it over the next few days, but today I will just say that the climate over there is not very cuticle friendly!!! I stayed at Guanacaste (Pacific side), characterized by a dry tropical climate. Very little greenery there, and lots and lots of dried up trees... And despite my best efforts of moisturizing with multiple cuticle goodies, my fingertips looked AWFUL... all cracked up with hangnails.. gah! =(
I actually changed my nail polish over there a few times (how could I wear the same shade for more than 2 days??? come on now!) but I didn't take any pictures because I was embarrassed to even look at my own fingers!! Yeah, it was that dry! So I wanted to surprise you with all kinds of new pics but I guess I'll just have to re-swatch them. That's ok. I will never complain about "having" to paint my nails!!
Because today is Monday, of course I chose to wear a blue... for my Monday blues =) I'm wearing one of the Brazilian brand polishes, Hits Specialita Apolo. It came out last year in their No Olimpo collection.
As you remember from your mythology, Apollo was a god of sun and light, as well as of music and poetry. He was also a patron of nine muses, the goddesses of music, song and dance, and the source of inspiration to poets. Well... seeing as beautiful this polish is, I want to be his tenth muse!!!
Apolo is a deep blue linear holo. It is gorgeous!!! Very strong holographic effect. I'm hoping the sun will be out tomorrow so I can capture some holographic rainbow for you!! In the meantime check out these pictures, taken underneath my OttLite:
Again, sorry about my cuticles here, I tried my best to put them back to presentable shape but for some of them it was apparently too late.. damn Costarican desert!
Formula on this was pretty good, full coverage in 2 coats. The application is a little awkward because the brush handle is pretty thin, but it makes up for this by the wideness and stiffness of the brush. I hardly needed any cleanup.
I used China Glaze Strong Adhesion base coat and didn't have any problems with application of Apolo. I will point out however, that it seems like the base coat should be pretty dry before this nail polish application. One of my fingernails was still a little wet and the polish dragged a bit (nothing that wouldn't level out with second coat though). I topped it all with Poshe top coat and did not lose any holo effect.
Apolo and 12 other polishes from this collection can be bought at Llarowe online store.
Happy Monday everyone!!! Hope you liked this week's Monday Blues!!
