Hey girlies!!
I'm back from my expedition to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley). I have bad news and good news.
Good news first: I was strong enough to carry my loads "in style" as my guide would say; that means that I was pulling my own weight and wouldn't have anyone else help me out (total of around 100lbs in backpack and sled). I was really worrying whether I would be able to haul so much, but I did it!!! And on top of that I felt great the whole time! No headache, nausea, etc.
For the bad news... we didn't get to summit Denali =( we got to the highest camp (17,200ft) and spent a whole week (!!!) waiting for the weather to turn so we would be able to try the summit. Nope.. Mother Nature stomped her foot and said "naah... I won't let you!" We had crazy winds and whiteouts and had to eventually go down since we ran out of time. Wuaaaahh!!! This sucks! That means that I will have to go back to Denali if I ever want to complete my 7 summits!!
In other good news I was given thumbs up to go to Mt. Everest. I'm physically (and mentally hopefully too!) ready to challenge the top of the world! Which will happen in April/May next year.
oh well... such is life, right, we can't always have it all... Thank you all for checking out my little corner while I was gone! I really hope you enjoyed all the guest posts too! And big thank you again to all the girls who have agreed to host my blog while I was climbing!!!
Till the next post!
Congrats on getting so far!!
ReplyDeleteThank you... Summit would have been nice but u prefer to keep my fingers and toes... :))
DeleteWelcome back!!!!
ReplyDeleteI tried to understand those maps that marked your position, but I have to admit I gave up pretty quickly LOL
I just entered to make sure you reported ok ;-))
Bummer about not getting where you planned to get, but I am sure you are bummed about it enough so all I have to do is APPLAUSE you for the part you did!! I can say this is something I could NEVER EVER do.
But still... good to have you back! <3
Oh my, you actually checked the tracking device!!! You're so awesome!! I decided to just check in instead of tracking my steps, that saved me tons of batteries!
DeleteAnd it is good to be back and play with my colorful bottles again :))
