Tuesdays with Zoya: Reece

Hello ladies!!

Three weeks on the mountain among dudes did it for me:  it's time for something a little girly!!  Even though I'm not a girly girl, so much testosterone around me pushed me into the estrogen waters LOL =)

It usually takes me good 5 minutes to pick a color for my next mani, but this time it was a matter of seconds!!  My inner nail polish goddess reached straight for pink!  Hence today's pick, Zoya Reece.  Zoya's description of this color is a "rose metallic duochrome."  I have to say that I agree with this.  It flows beautifully and reaches full opacity with 2 coats.  The base color is a deep rose and it shimmers with gold and somewhat greenish tiny particles.  It's really pretty although it doesn't strike me as the most modern color out there.  I wouldn't say it's a grandma color but definitely doesn't stand up to the the other "cool" duochromes out there!

I have to mention here that I took off my OPI gel polish myself after I got back from my trip.  I soaked my nails in acetone for 20 minutes and the damn thing still wouldn't fully come off!!!  I ended up chipping it off which left the surface of my nails uneven and scratched.  Well that's the last time I will be going for a gel manicure for sure!!!  Pain in the ass I tell ya!  It did last full 3 weeks in harsh, harsh conditions without any chips.  However, I don't know how it is even possible but it seemed like some dirt got into the gel polish in between the layers??  I was definitely not a fan!!  I'm so glad to be back to "normal" polish!!

As usual, please excuse my cuticles, they got totally destroyed in the -25F weather!!

Reece is still available for purchase at Zoya website.

Have a wonderful Tuesday and thank you for reading!!!

I think you really have a knack for capturing shimmer and the polish "essence".

  5. Love this pink! I'm always a sucker for a duochrome! As for the gel removal... Did you buff off the shine before the soak with a fine grit file? It makes all the difference & removal is a breeze ;)
