Tuesdays with Zoya (and Finger Paints!): Shay + Artist's Inspiration

Hi beauties!!

My gosh, I can't believe how fast the time flies!!  And I totally missed the official beginning of my favorite season!!!  I just now realized, damn, we're almost at the end of the month, I guess it's officially fall now!  And I totally didn't realize that I'm getting paid this week too..  I don't know where my head is nowadays.. up my lower hole obviously! =))

Today I combined two polishes:  Zoya "Shay" and Finger Paints "Artist's Inspiration".  And I threw in some bling bling also!

First I applied Zoya Shay in two easy coats.  Zoya describes this color as "a dense, fleshy light peach with slight orange-red undertones and a hint of pearly silver shimmer."  Formula was pretty nice, and I topped everything with a layer of Seche Vite topcoat.

When Shay was pretty dry (10 min or so) I applied strips of striping tape diagonally across my nails.  This was just a guide to me since I don't feel so confident in doing freehanded straight lines!  Once the tape was on, I applied Finger Paints Artist's Inspiration, a gorgeous one-two coater of pure chocolate brown goodness, diagonally at the bottom of my nails.  I removed the tape immediately after I painted each nail, before the polish had a chance to dry.

Then I applied yellow glequins on the line bordering two polishes.  I'm not sure why, but the glequins look green in my pictures...  there is nothing green about them!!  I don't have a light box so maybe it's a reflection of the green wall in my office where I take pictures?
Anyway, in case you were wondering how I applied the glequins, here it is:  I put a glob of clear nail polish on piece of paper.  With the pointed part of an orange wood stick I dabbed some of the clear polish along the border line.  Then immediately I picked up one glequin at a time and placed them one by each other along the line.  In my previous manis I tried using topcoat instead of clear nail polish but it dried so fast that the glequins had nothing to stick to!!  So you may use clear polish or a long-dry topcoat.
After I applied all the glequins, I topped them off with 2 layers of Seche Vite.  I used two layers because I was afraid that some glitter can potentially come off with just one layer of topcoat.  Two covered them up beautifully!!  I've been wearing this mani for second day now, and under hand abuse at work and doing dishes at home all the glequins are still in place!!

Shay is part of Zoya's Touch collection released in 2011.  It's still available for sale at Zoya's website for $8/bottle.
Artist's Inspiration is... not available anymore!!  so so sorry!!!!
The glequins can be purchased at Born Pretty Store with free international shipping!!

How did you like today's mani?  Is it over the top?  My hubby didn't like it..  he said I should have left it alone and not added any glequins.  I say he's full of shit!!  I love it!!! =))

And finally... please help me choose a theme for next week!!!
Please please please!!!!  I can't decide myself!!  And if I ask my hubby for any more nail-related advice, his friends may take his man card away!!!! =)))

Thank you all for stopping by!!! =))

    1. Dude, I so agree. If it were up to my husband, my nail polish collection would consist of red only! Forget the glequins or any other nail art! ;))

  2. Haha. My boyfriend always criticizes my manicures but he actually just wants to mess with me and doesn't mean it. This came out great. I love the two colors paired. I have to get myself some of those glequin things.

    1. Oh those men... My hubby won't really criticize but I can tell he doesn't like it by the look of horror in his eyes lol:)). I think you really would be pleased with the glequins!!!

  3. Ok this mani really needs a lot more attention. Shay is such a special color. I seriously suspect I wouldn't be able to wear it without looking like a ghost but on you it looks so classy!
And that twist adds a lot of elegance to it! This is one of those manis that people don't notice, but yet - it's making your hand look so great that everyone automatically would ask you if you lost weight or something LOL

    2. Zoya describes this color as perfect for warm tone skin. I have no clue what color my skin is but I really like how it looks!! Maybe it's the contrast with the brown? I wouldn't wear it by itself since I'm not too much of a nude girl (except in certain circumstances hahaha, I couldn't help it ;)) ). And I wish someone asked me if I lost weight... It seems like my waistline is going the opposite direction;)

Thank you SO MUCH for picking the theme!!! Saves me a lot of Minnie Miny Mos!! :)
