Happy happy Monday!!! =))
Here I am at work again!!! I keep playing and playing the lottery and I just cannot win!!! What's up with that??? I think it's a conspiracy against me!!! =))
Btw, in case you haven't noticed, Life In Color! finally has its own Facebook page! So follow if you'd like! =)
Today's Monday Blues start off the new theme in my personal theme challenge: the Holidays, which in this case is Halloween!! I really like this holiday!! I love walking in the streets and seeing how people dressed up their houses. Also, I go to an annual Halloween party where it's so much fun to see what my co-workers made themselves into! So for the next week and a half expect to see some Halloween nail art. For the most part that is =) And Halloween themed polishes of course!! Today's Halloween debut is China Glaze "Bizarre Blurple"!
Bizarre Blurple is mostly dark, almost navy blue with very strong purple undertones. I definitely like it but I'm not sure if I love it.. It may be too purple for me? I couldn't really see the shimmer in real life, I'm not quite sure why it looks so prominent in the pictures. Two coats of somewhat runny, but self-leveling formula.
Then I applied OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" to my accent nail, two coats of self-leveling off-white creme. Then I decided to add some Halloween accent and decided to 3 bats from BM-213, using Finger Paints "Black Expressionism". And that's when everything went to hell. I couldn't get the damn design to transfer properly to my nail for the life of me!! So I sorta took a layer off my nail with some acetone which left black smudges. I decided to stamp over it anyway, because I thought that it would give it a 'saran-wrap' sorta look... wrooong!!! It just looks dirty. dammit, another fail!! stupid stamping!!! On top of that I showed it to my hubby (that's my ultimate cool vs lame oracle) and he looks at my nails with this look... so I already know that it's not good... he's looking, he's looking and finally says: 'ooooh! these are supposed to be bats!! I thought they are just squiggly lines!!" WTF!! Effing men =))
Bizarre Blurple is part of China Glaze 2012 Wicked collection and is currently available for sale at all retailers that sell this brand.
My Boyfriend Scales Walls is part of OPI 2012 Spiderman collection and can be still purchased at certain retailers, otherwise widely available on eBay and Amazon.
So... be honest... do my bats look dirty or can they pass away for "I meant to do that" look??

DeleteIt totally looks like you meant to do this. I think its like a marble tombstone effect and they are very clearly bats. The Blurple is stunning :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lou!!! That's what I will tell anybody who says otherwise!!! LOL
DeleteIt is art and it is great! I like it and I see marble too, like Lou!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!! Thank you so much :))

ReplyDelete~ Yun
Thank you so much Yun!! :))
DeleteI like the blurple! It looks great on you! Also, your hubby cracks me up.... Mine says stuff like that all the time too ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks Mandy!!! Those men, they're so clueless sometimes!!
DeleteI kinda like how the bats look. It reminds me of the old time grainy black and white horror movies :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!! That really builds me up :)))
DeleteI have also this BM-plate and the bats do not even work for me.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm glad I'm not the only one!!! I had so many problems getting them to stamp!!
DeleteWell... they totally look like bats to me... Sometimes our guys just don't see, lol. But bless their hearts for their honesty, lol.
ReplyDeleteI know!! I always know if my hubby likes my mani or not by the look on his face haha =)
DeleteThis is definitely a pretty blue, but I could not justify ordering it so I didn't. My orders from the US are so small that only the best of the best make it. This might also be similar to the Kiko I posted a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteYour bats are cute! You could have filled them in with some black to make them better. And also if you use some top coat before you stamp, you can wipe the stamping off and it doesn't smudge the color underneath.
I think your Kiko is a little bit more pretty =))))
DeleteI always do the topcoat!! And it still smeared... I'm still learning!! Usually the acetone wipes the whole image off without touching the base color, but this time it failed... maybe because there's such a big contrast from white to black?
