It's that time again!!! Time of the Happy Hour =) So pull your chair up, make yourself comfortable, and get ready to view a gorgeous polish while you're sipping on some tasty cocktail!!
Today's cocktail of the week is Zeus, inspired by Sinful Colors "Zeus"!
To achieve this look I painted all my nails first with Zeus. It's a gorgeous dusty blue with very strong purple undertones. It is filled with iridescent magenta shimmer. Two coats of perfect formula! I'm starting to change my mind about Sinful Colors. I've gotten almost all my bottles on sale for $0.99 and always figured that even if the formula is not all that great, no biggie since it's only 99 cents. As it turns out, this polish is not only of fabulous color, but also with really awesome formula!! For 99 cents you really cannot go any better!!
I used a saran wrap technique on my thumb and ring fingernails using China Glaze "Snow". To minimize the mess I just painted one single stripe on my nails and dabbed it around with small piece of plastic wrap. Much easier than making a dot on a board first, then dab it with saran wrap, and THEN put it on the nail. Less mess and it's faster to do it 'my' way!
Then I stamped both accent nails with Finger Paints "Black Expressionism" (my new perfect black for stamping, it's very very easy to clean up around cuticles unlike the wretched Konad!!) and plate RA-114. I'm expanding my horizons and starting to use full nail images!! What do you think???
Zeus is part of Sinful Colors Cast Away 2012 collection and can be still purchased at certain Walgreens stores for $1.99/bottle (or $0.99 during the sale times!!)
Now, as promised, the cocktail of the week, the Zeus!!

Directions:
Combine the Campari, vodka and ice cubes in an old-fashioned glass and stir. Twist the lemon peel over the glass to release the oil, and drop it in.
Hmm... I'm not sure if I would go for this cocktail, I really don't like anything even remotely sour... If you ever try this, let me know how you liked it!!!
Thanks so much for joining me at the weekly Happy Hour!!!

I found Zeus, one lonely bottle of it, at Walgreens about a month ago and it was a .99 sale, so I snatched it up...I haven't used it yet but I think that is going to change tomorrow! It's a pretty purple/periwinkle!
ReplyDeleteWow, you are very lucky!
DeleteI think you will really like it!!! It surprised me how awesome it is!
DeleteThat accent nail makes my head spin!!
ReplyDeleteHaha is that good or bad??? :)). Thanks!!
DeleteI'm sipping my morning coffee actually but that'll do. This Sinful has a very interesting color. And the shimmer is so pretty! I always do my saran technique the way you did it. And yay for full nail images! They are my favorites! I actually think it's easier to work with them because with the smaller images you have to worry about how and where you place them on the nail. This one is an awesome image. I'm so jealous of your Red Angel plates!
ReplyDeleteI really really like the Red Angel plates, it seems that they're carved out better than other plates. I'm afraid of full images because I'm always scared that they will look stupid on me!! I will practice with different ones though :)
Deleteit's a pretty manicure :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! :)
DeleteThis is really cool!! I need to try my Zeus.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marisa!! Can't wait to see it on you!
DeleteI really love Sinful Colors. I think I've only paid full price for one once. They have a lot of pretty colors, like Zues, and I think the formula is terrific! Love your stamping! That's a cool image. I have the Red Angel plates too, but haven't been sucessful with a lot of the images. About to try that filing the scraper thing! And you are getting awfully brave using those big images! Go for it, they look awesome! Zeus cocktail? I'll pass on it too! Lol. I like sour, but I'm not a fan of Campari bitters. Blech!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Andrea!! Glad to hear you like Sinful Colors!! I think Cinderella turned me off to them... It was the first Sinful I've tried and although gorgeous, the formula was awful!!! So I kinda figured that all of them are like that... I will try more of them though with some big images!!
DeleteI love it! Zeus has been on my wish list for a while now. I look for it whenever I'm in a Walgreens but we never seem to cross paths :( It looks beautiful on you and great job with the stamping. Thats a really cool image!
ReplyDeleteThank you Danica!! I will post a comparison to Zeus later on today, so you may find that it could be a suitable substitute for you!!
DeleteLove everything about this! Zeus is such a gorgeous color, I love the shimmer! Love the accent nails too with the saran wrap background. So cool!
