Thirsty Thursdays: Santa's Sleigh cocktail

Hi lovelies!!

Pheww..  I finally got done with Christmas shopping last night!!!  I had all kinds of trouble with the last present..  my dad for some reason wished for a spare tire for his boat trailer (what kind of a freaking gift is it anyway????).  So me, good daughter I am, wrote down the dimensions of the tire and off I went to buy it.  I went to one store.. they didn't have it.  I went to another store...  they didn't have it.  I went to the third store where I was sure they would have it.. but of course they didn't!!  Finally, frustrated, I drove all the way down to a specialty trailer store and asked for a 24-inch 4-screw tire.  The guy looked at me weird and said that he needs 'another dimension' of the tire.  I had to call my dad and it turns out that I must have been high on polish fumes again because I wrote down 24 inches instead of TWELVE!!!  A standard freaking size that I could have gotten at ANY store.  Dammit!!  But I got it.  Now I gotta figure out how to wrap the damn thing.  Any ideas???? =)

In any case, it's a good thing that it's Thursday today 'cuz it means that it's time for a happy hour!!  I'll definitely toast to my finished Christmas shopping with the Santa's Sleigh cocktail, inspired by a gorgeous glitter polish, Nicole by OPI "My Sleigh's In the Shop"!

My Sleigh's In the Shop is a bright purple glitter with some silver and gold mixed in, all suspended in a clear base.  It took two coats for full opacity.  Formula was just a tad thick but I think it's because some lacquer evaporated.  I actually used this polish here on this blog before, it was in my second post ever I believe??  Here is the original picture in all its glory:

Yep, awful, I know...  But at least I got some sun on it!

Here are today's, grown up pictures:

I stamped the sleigh with a present on my accent nail (on top of 2 coats of OPI "Alpine Snow") using BM-321 and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Blue It" for the sleigh and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Plum Power" for the present.  I sponged some Orly "Luxe" around the whole thing, which I don't think it was a best idea because I think it looks a little dirty.. Maybe I should have used richer gold like OPI "Goldeneye"?

My Sleigh's In the Shop is part of Nicole by OPI Holiday Glitters collection released in 2011.

And now where is that drink??!!

  1. The story about the wheel was hilarious! Sorry, I know you didn't feel that way when looking for that wheel but I really rolled over here ;-)

I didn't quite understand what was wrong in the "original" picture of your polish...?
Anyway I really love your mani and I think it looks wonderful!!!
The cocktail also sounds very yumm. I wish we had some eggnog around here so I could try it... Waaaaaaa :-(

    1. Actually my cuticles are not too bad in that original picture, it's just the pose and the whole composition of the picture is pretty bad =)
ooohh I love eggnog... you could make your own, you know =))

  2. What a good daughter you are! Parents are so funny to shop for. That's so cool that you found your dad exactly what he wanted :)
I really like your sleigh nail! The gold framing is adorable, and you did an awesome job on the twotone.

That drink looks mighty tasty, too, lol... I generally like my drinks red, complex, and leggy, but this looks divine! I might have to bookmark this for Christmas Eve at the in-laws' :)

  3. To wrap the tire maybe you can put it in one of those kids bike bags and then cut off the excess wrap. Very pretty!

    1. Thank you for your suggestion!! You actually gave me an idea and I ended up putting the tire into a big trash bag and put all kinds of bows and ribbons on it!!

  4. Oh wow! That story is crazy! You really are a great daughter. I don't think I would ever try to get something so complicated. And travel so much to get it. Of course, I would be so frustrated to find out that it was all my fault in the end. Hope you are more calm than I am.
I'm so jealous because you have so many awesome holiday stamping plates! And I love that glitter!

    1. You should totally get some stamps, Mihaela!!!
And yes, that was so frustrating.. especially since I don't do any actual shopping in stores, I just shop online! But in the end my dad liked it, so that's what's most important =)
