New 31DC: Day 1 - Black & White

Hi loves!

I'm probably the last one of the bunch posting this, but hey, better late than never, right!  And it's still technically Jan 1st over here!!! (for another 3 hrs!)

I saw "The Hobbit" today.  For those of you who liked "The Lord of the Rings", you MUST see it!!!  It's just as good...  it starts out a little bit slow, but then it really takes off.  And Howard Shore made music to it as well, so you will probably recognize some familiar tunes!!  I can't wait for it to come out on DVD, it's supposed to have 20-25 extra content (yep, like the 3 hr movie wasn't long already LOL)!!  Ahh, there are so many movies I want to see!!!

But enough about movies!!  You've come here to look at my paws not to listen about the hobbitses and the precious-es and their luncheons and second breakfast-es!! =))

First day of The New 31 Day Challenge calls for black and white nails. I used piCture pOlish "White Wedding" because we finally got snow over here!!  Not much, maybe 1/2 inch, but hey, snow is snow! =)  Here's how I combined it with black!

White Wedding is a milky white filled with colorful microshimmer that unfortunately was very very shy and did not want to be captured on camera...  if you can imagine snow glistening in sunshine, that's what this polish looks like!!  Formula was ok, and the VNL (visible nail line) was still apparent even after 3 coats. It looks completely white in the bottle but it takes on a pinkish tinge when on the nails.

I freehanded (whaaaat??!!) the French tips with Finger Paints "Black Expressionism" (that's what I'm wearing on my accent finger) and with OPI "Alpine Snow" on my ring finger.  Yep, I probably should have used a stencil or tape or something...

White Wedding is available through Llarowe although it is temporarily sold out.

I'm not sure if I dig this polish...  I think one of my bigger resolutions this year is to get rid of 'meh' polishes instead of hoarding them for the 'what if, but I'll probably find something better' occasions!

What are some of your resolutions or wishes for this year?
Thanks so much for stopping by!!

  1. Wow!!! This mani is so pretty. Love the color combos and design. Great job on this one!

  2. The polish is very pretty, but if 3 coats don't make it opaque, I don't think it's worth it. You have great freehand skills, btw. I would never be brave enough to attempt this.
I didn't see The Hobbit because I didn't want to pay 3D price and then get bored after 2 hours or less. I will probably watch it when it comes out on DVD.

    1. You???? YOU are telling me you wouldn't be brave to attempt this??? the queen of freehand??? you must be sniffing too much nail polish!!!!! =))
I agree on opacity, that's why this polish is sitting in my swap/sell bin right now!!
I never got bored on Hobbit.. it's an outstanding movie!!! =)

  3. I'm sorry to tell you that you're not the last...
But anywho, this is such a classy mani!
I tried, I really did try so do something that is just black and white and I just couldn't make it look reasonable, so I had to cheat a little and add the silver.
But your mani looks so good!!! I LOVE it!!!

    1. well thank you! technically mine looks cheated too since the white turned into pink... but at least the name has 'white' in it!

  4. Feel free to send White Wedding to me. ;-) We saw The Hobbit last week and I was surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I really liked getting to know Bilbo and liked that we get a chance to like him.

    1. haha we could always do a swap or something!!
I really really liked Bilbo too, and how modest he is!!! I can't wait for the second part to come out!!! (Dec 13th wuaaah!!)

  5. Quite impressive for not using a stencil! I need some White Wedding too!! My Birthday was last week, should have asked for it! Oh well, next year :)

    1. thank you so much!! happy belated Birthday (mine was on 28th, maybe we shared it???)
I hope you get this polish sooner though!!
